North Palm Beach Country Club
About
North Palm Beach Country Club is situated on the Intracoastal Waterway atop the Seminole Ridge, offering scenic views and a rolling terrain covered with natural oak hammocks. The golf course is one of only two municipal courses in the country that are Jack Nicklaus Signature courses. It has received much acclaim for being not only one of the best public golf courses in Florida, but also one of the best publics in the U.S. There are rolling fairways and undulating greens, many of which are fiercely guarded by bunkers. Although a bevy of challenges has been built into the course, flexibility was also incorporated into the design with five sets of tees. North Palm Beach Country Club offers playability to a range of skill levels but from the back tees it is a formidable challenge to even the most advanced golfers.

Great Public Course
Thoroughly enjoyed the round at this course. It was an interesting layout with targeted tee shots, and especially challenging pin positions. Hard to read a number of greens but that just made it more fun and a better test ... very fair course if you brought your "A" game with you! Definitely would play again if I were in the area.
Too expensive for what you get
I only play it when there is a deal. The scenery is nice and the course challenging but too expensive for a municipal course.
this course rocks! especially if ur good
must be one of the most challenging courses ive ever played... even harder than the pga champ course (honda classic).... Jack Nicklaus out did himself here...
CDNGLFR
Greens slower then in the past but still a great course. Best design in South Florida.
Nice Layout
I enjoy playing this course. It is a nice layout with a good variety of holes. For a south Florida course there is a surprising amount of elevation change that makes the course visually appealling. It is well worth playing particularly if you can get on at a discounted rate.
Great Course
Course was in great shape greens were a little slower than usual weather was fair some light rain but very short duration Staff was very friendly as usual one of my favorite courses to play.
Nice corse
Very nice course. People friendly. Challenging. Nice pace.
Golf Course has good character
You don't expect to have pristine conditions and elevation changes at a municipal golf course in South Florida but North Palm Beach GC had these very things. The price was a bit steep ($55) but the course was in good shape and there was a good pace for a 3 o'clock tee time so it wasn't that bad of a deal. There is some great views of the inter coastal on the front nine and more elevation changes on the back nine. All in all a great day on the golf course. Will play it again.
tough greens
The course was in good shape overall but the greens could definitely use some work. Very bumpy and tough to read. Also some of the sand traps, and there are a lot of them, were quite hard. All in all it was an enjoyable day on the golf course.
service
food and beverage was average at best. No beverage cart on course and doors were locked at the turn forced to go back thru pro shop
BETWEEN A MUNI AND A PRIVATE CLUB
A fun round for the intermediate and above golfer. Most of the holes except for two on the back nine are of moderated lengh which compensates for the other challenges of topography and greens that J.N. threw in the redesign. There is a ranger present which I assume would keep the pace of play on track in the event there are inexperienced players on the course otherwise, look out! The Village of N. Palm Beach has invested well in the facility and it shows. The fee is rich for a MUNI during the season but after that it is reasonable in case you want to try it.
Greens in bad shape - during high season at top dollar
Played all over Palm Beach County this winter. For the money this was a very disappointing experience. The greens were sanded and fertilized, and had a cut completely around each green so putting from the fringe was nearly impossible) as a result they were not "puttable". At premium public courses (I am a member of one in the Northeast), they should warn you that their greens are not in top shape (sub par in this case) or reduce the greens fees during that time. There are 4 or 5 courses you can book on golf now in the immediate area that are superior for the same money and/or significantly less. My playing partner was so upset with the conditions (the trimming and general course conditions were average at best in addition to the chopped up greens), that he insisted we go to the pro shop and tell the management. They were professional but were surprised and said they never have had any complaints. I forgot about the whole thing until yesterday while playing at Champions (play this one it is great), when an Octogenarian I was paired up with had a few things to say: When I brought up that NPB Country Club staff denied that anybody else had complained, he said "right, sure, utter nonsense". Next he described the course as a piece of garbage...He should know he plays his age and plays all the courses around here. The staff did take our names and followed up with an apology call, but offered nothing else. The green fees should be $50 not $110 for a course like that. Everybody raves about the course, so this is just one informed opinion. Caveat Emptor!
First class public course
Great public course...one of the best I have played in 25 years. Friendly staff, challenging holes, lots of bunkers and undulating greens and fairways. Elevation changes a bit unusual for Florida. Tip: try to play with a member or use the GPS on the cart to judge landing areas off the tee, as there are some deceptive fairways. Course has some spectacular holes along the intercostal waterway. Great chipping and putting practice areas, and a good range as well to warm up. Didn't eat there but recommend Captain Charlie's Reef Grille a few miles north of the course for super seafood. Course also has a clean locker room to freshen up after your round. The positive write-up in Golf Digest was spot on. Try to get a GolfNow discount, but even if you don't it is a good value for the West Palm area.
Were we slow?
First off, this is an enjoyable course with some really great holes. A tee time was easy to secure through golfnow.com too.
My brother and I were paired up with "a couple of our members" on the first tee, two retired gentlemen from the Northeast that were as friendly as need be.
As the round progressed, I noticed their conversations with us were less and less, and they were seeming to get irritated about something. They were the first up on the tee which made sense since they were not hitting the ball as far, and one played from forward tees, but as the day wore on they wouldn't even wait until our drives hit the ground before driving down the fairway. Not that this is a dealbreaker, and frankly, in the end, I will never see them again, but I certainly don't want to be a slow player.
When I play at home I'm the first to get to my ball, never the last guy walking down the fairway, no one ever has to wait for me to hit, etc. (I'm a 12.3 index, fyi) Same was true here, I was always ready to hit, even if I took a few more strokes to get around. In the end, we finished in 4:15, which was 15 mins behind the scorecard wanted us. But we had still only a half of a hole between us and the group in front.
When we finished the round I was behind one of these gentlemen as he walked up to one of the staff members who asked how his round was, that was when I heard him complaining about us, "two brothers from Chicago taking too long" which proves they didn't even take the time to talk to us once, as I'm from New York.
Where am I going with this? I don't know, but if it were a problem, I wish they would have sent out a ranger to tell us, though there was nowhere to go anyway. I guess I want to point it out only because the course touted these gents as representatives of the course, and if that's the case, the course didn't shine as well as it could have.
Great course
challenging, beautiful vistas overall a beautiful course.
Great experience
Staff was very accommodating and friendly, course greens and pin placements were challenging. Practice facility was good and putting greens were in good shape. This was my first time to play here so. I look forward to returning now I know the lay of the course. Great overall experience.
Great Day
We really enjoyed the North Palm Beach Country Club Golf Course. I would highly recommend. The course was in very nice condition and it has some challenging holes. It is also just a beautiful course and a great way to spend part of your day.
Noth Palm Beach CC review
Course is wide open with and great greens, and even some great views of the Inter coastal waterway. However the pace of play is mind numbing. We teed off at 12:50 and it took us an hour to play three holes, it did eventually speed up to be a 5 hour round, but for the money one should not have to be waiting with two or three groups on half the tee boxes. the starting times are 8 minutes apart and if they are going to pack the course the starter need to inforce a four hour round and make people pick up if they are off pace! Would never play the course again due to the slow play...may take a few weeks to recover from it!
