South at Fountains Country Club
About
Located in Lake Worth, Fountains Country Club is part of a gated golf community. The club boasts three different 18-hole championship courses called the South, West, and North. In the 1970s, Robert Von Hagge and Bruce Devlin collaborated to design all three courses. They all have a classic design that showcases the traditions of Florida golf but each has a unique character and set of challenges. All of the golf courses have plenty of water but the South Course has water on nearly every hole. The course is mostly flat and wide-open but there is some subtle mounding as well as strategic bunkering to provide some challenges. It is a gentle enough layout for beginners though and there are also five sets of tees to make it even more accommodating.

Not a great experience
We had a slow group in front of us which didn’t bother us at all but the group behind us was up our tail and super rude. I’m not going to hit into the group in front of us but clearly what’s what the group behind us wanted us to do which was really unnecessary. It wasn’t that slow and this just really soured our round. Complain to a marshal or call into the clubhouse but don’t ruin our round.
Average course, above average price
This course recently started allowing the public to play. Although the restaurant and other clubhouse amenities are very nice, the course is average at best. The conditions were average. The pace of play was slow, and the price charged is well above what a comparable course would charge. Overall, overrated, and not good value for money.
Fun course in good shape
Course was in good shape and fun /o play, greens we true and pretty fast. I would definitely play here.
Worse management
We drove over a hour to play this course. We arrive and the pro shop staff says “unfortunately we can’t get you out today because golfnow screwed up and shouldn’t have posted the tee time. That was it. He never offered a discount or a round for a different day/time. Left us there with zero and didn’t care at all. I would hope management would read this and contact me to offer me something but I doubt it.
Very disappointing and unprofessional.
If I was around the corner I wouldn’t mind but I drove over an hour.
Stay private and don’t ever offer “member for a day” if this is how you are going to treat guests.
First time playing course
If you want to play a 6 hour round of golf then this is the place for you. Pace of play was horrible. Course is in good shape and the staff was very nice. Wouldn’t come back
Good course and price
Solid course for the price during season in FL. Played on a Friday morning and finished in 4 hours. Tee to green was in great condition, greens rolled fast and true. Starter was awesome, he drove us to the first hole and explained how to get to a few holes. It was tricky to get to a few tee boxes.
Solid course
Played the course on a Friday morning in 4 hours. Starter was very nice. Some holes were confusing but a nice layout. Tee to green in great condition. Can’t beat the price too!
Fast Greens
This is a fairly typical, South Florida condo-type layout. Course was hard and fast with fairways a little tight to clip the ball. However, whatever shortfalls there were, the greens made up for it. They were fast, true but fair. I love fast greens and it was fun to putt on them...just stay below the hole when possible.
The Fountains South course
Had heard the Fountains was very nice, and this time we heard right. The course was in very good condition and the design was both challenging and fair. Water was in play but not overly invasive to higher handicappers. I would recommend the course and look forward to playing it again.
Some staff they very rude and not pleasant to deal with them!
